Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Reveals New Gameplay Trailer

Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis

During June's State of Play presentation, Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog unveiled a brand-new gameplay trailer for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, an upcoming modern reimagining of the original Tomb Raider from 1996. The game will retain the core story centered around the search for the Scion artifact and the lost civilization of Atlantis, while introducing significantly expanded locations, new story elements, and modernized gameplay mechanics.

The new footage showcased the classic Lara Croft in action, the return of iconic locations from Peru, Greece, and Egypt, redesigned puzzles, acrobatic platforming sequences, gunfights, and battles against dinosaurs, which remain some of the most memorable moments from the original game. The developers also emphasized that this is not a simple remake, but a complete reimagining of the original adventure designed for a modern generation of players.

The game is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and will feature larger interconnected environments instead of strictly linear levels. Greater emphasis is being placed on exploration, vertical traversal, discovering secrets, and the atmosphere of solitary adventure that once defined the series.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will launch on February 12, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The role of Lara Croft will now be portrayed by actress Alix Wilton Regan.
